The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Alan Rimmer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

"Brother & Comrade"

Although timelines are fuzzy in my mind (my memory tells me I have known Alan for roughly a decade & through our mutual friend Steve Izma) there remains absolutely nothing fuzzy about either the mutual solidarity & deep affection for my brother in militancy & solidarity or the deep sense of loss I feel personally. I have lost a dear, dear friend, & our society has lost a giant for justice. Alan combined academic brilliance, flavored by his commitment to the Student Christian Movement, & those principles of Christian Socialism it embodied. We met frequently at protests & over coffee to discuss the state of the world (good & ill). He brought to life for me this vibrant SCM through both his research & his personal journey within this incredible piece of our Canadian history, Therese, my heart goes out to you in your loss, but through your tears I hope you can celebrate a life that counted and that those tears become prisms of celebration as well.
