Obituary for Bruce Edward Linkletter

Bruce Edward Linkletter
Linkletter, Bruce Edward

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bruce Linkletter announces his passing, surrounded by family at Innisfree House on Monday, April 15, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. The sun brightly shone as Bruce made his heavenly journey.

Cherished husband of Christine for 21 years. Loving father of Natasha, Jordan, Taylor, and Haylea. Beloved son of Carol Linkletter and Gordon Linkletter (Fanny Gragor). Deeply missed by his sister, Anne Linkletter (Robin Stania), his extended family and many friends. Dear uncle to Connor Rush, and Liam and Ava Myers. Son-in-law of John and Mary Szucs, and brother-in-law of John Szucs (Colleen Myers). Predeceased by his grandparents Emery & Harriet Linkletter, and Herbert & Helen Robinson.

Bruce made sure life was an adventure and had a way of creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love for those who knew him. He faced his cancer diagnosis head-on and taught us a great deal about friendship, love, compassion, and humility. Bruce was an avid golfer and looked forward each year to his annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach with the "boys". He loved family road trips that included several vacations to Florida and Prince Edward Island. Words can't adequately express the impact he had on so many friends, family, and colleagues. His bright smile and infectious laugh will be sorely missed.

Bruce's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Andrea Molckovsky and Amanda at the Grand River Hospital Cancer Centre, and the dedicated volunteers and staff at Innisfree House for their outstanding care and compassion.

A private family service will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Henry Walser Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Bruce's life at Conestoga Golf Club in Conestogo on Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Innisfree House https://lisaardandinnisfree.com or Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/grand-river-hospital-foundation) are appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home)

Everyone here today, you have touched in a special way,
And as you watch down on us from up above,
We pray you don’t forget just how much you are loved,
Even though you were sick for a while,
You couldn’t help but show us a smile,
As you laid your head to rest,
We all knew we were losing one of the best,
You were a great father, brother, husband, son, and friend,
None of us ever wished your time would come to an end,
Even though we can no longer see you,
We will push through,
For one day we will see you again,
Like you always said,
With a golf club in your hand,
Or your toes in the sand,
Heaven better make some room,
For a man with a heart as big as you,
Because everyone here today,
You have touched in a special way,
And as you watch down on us from up above,
We pray you don’t forget just how much you are loved.
