Obituary for Catherine Rennie Wolfe (Trimble)

Catherine Rennie Wolfe

Passed away on Sunday, May 5th, at Lisaard House in Cambridge at the age of 71 with family by her side.

She was a loving mother to her son Martin (Karen) and her daughter Heather. She was also a devoted Nan to cherished grandsons Henry (16), Alexander (13), and Jonah (10), and sister to Ginny, Al and Marg. Cathy will be fondly remembered by extended family, friends both near and far, former students, the Old Salts Canoe Club, Nastawgan Trails members and anyone she met as she always thought it important to learn everyone’s name and look them in the eye while offering them her signature bright and warm smile.

Cathy grew up in Toronto before going to college in Ohio. Within several years of graduating she settled and raised her family in New Liskeard where she taught elementary school for roughly 30 years before retiring and moving to Waterloo to be closer to her kids and grandkids.

Cathy will be remembered for many things, but particularly for her love of nature. Whether she was canoeing, hiking, camping, foraging, or going on a nature walk with her grandsons, Cathy was always happiest when surrounded by nature, friends and family. When not enjoying the outdoors, Cathy could be found with a book and loved to give those she enjoyed as gifts to others. Due to her love of reading and her big heart she understood that people were complex and was never quick to judge, always seeing the best they had to offer.

A Celebration of Life for Cathy will be held at the Butterfly Conservatory in Cambridge on May 15th from 1- 4 p.m. There will be a moment of silence at 2:30 p.m. followed by an opportunity to say a few words for those who choose to do so.

It would mean a great deal to family if you could contribute a special story, picture or memory to the online memorial at www.henrywalser.com so we can later print them off for her grandsons.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers please donate to the Lisaard House Hospice or plant a tree in her name.
