After a life well lived and enjoyed, Doreen passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Columbia Forest Long Term Care at the age of 90.
Beloved wife of 39 years to the late Thomas A. Kirby (2005).
Dear sister of Margaret (John) Kehler of Calgary.
She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Barbara Eitel and brother Herbert F. (Barbara) Eitel (February 2019).
She was a member of St. Aloysius R.C. Church and worked for the Waterloo Board of Education for over 20 years.
Doreen enjoyed her winters spent in Bradenton, Florida and enjoyed playing piano and pub nights at Trinity Village.
Doreen was a genuinely caring person who touched the lives of many.
Doreen's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Parish prayers at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Aloysius R.C. Church (11 Traynor Ave., Kitchener) on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10 a.m.
A special thanks to the staff at Columbia Forest for their care and attention to Doreen in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, St. Aloysius R.C. Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
