A longtime resident of North Dumfries Township, Harry went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, May 3, 2019. He passed away peacefully with all of his children by his side at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge at the age of 88. Beloved and cherished husband of the late Ilse (2017). Loving father of Ilona (Rolf) Bodendorfer, Mark (Helga) Hermann, Susan Hermann and Birgit (Larry) Pellizzari. Cherished Opa of Sarah (Curtis Waldeck), Erik, Jonathan, Daniel, Katrina and Sophia. Dear brother of Erwin (late Enis), Edith (late Fritz) and the late Edeltraut (Zygmunt) and Käthe (Alfred). Survived by sisters-in-law Hedwig Ebert (late Ewald) and Margit Nebel (late Georg). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and extended family.

After immigrating from Germany to Canada in the 1950s, he operated a poultry and cash crop farm first in Hespeler and then for 27 years in North Dumfries Township. During his retirement he focused on beekeeping, his wood working hobbies and pursued his love for traveling with his wife, Ilse.

Harry was a longtime member and supporter of the Martin Luther Church, in Kitchener.

The family is sincerely grateful to the long-term care staff at Fairview Mennonite Home for the exceptional care they not only provided during his five year stay but especially during the last week for their compassionate care for Harry and his family. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and the staff who cared for him at Fairview.

Harry's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 and from 3-3:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday at 4 p.m. Reception to follow. Private interment Woodland Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Fairview Mennonite Home, Alzheimer Society or Martin Luther Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
