Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Innisfree House at the age of 88.

Beloved wife of Nelson Hofer.
Loving mother of Janyce Reid and the late Ken Reid.
Will be missed by her step-children Anne Hofer, Mike Hofer (Sima), Peter Hofer (Sharon) and Maggie Gaus (Ken).
Survived by her daughter-in-law Florence and her cherished grandchildren Nicole and Kyle.
Dear sister of Yvonne Boland (Gerry).
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her first husband Allan Reid and her brothers; Jack, Robert, Don, David and Fr. William LaFlamme.

Jeanette began her teaching career with the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Waterdown, and taught at various Elementary Schools until 1962 when she received a Mission posting to Bolivia. There she continued to teach young children until her return to Canada where she resumed secular life, married Allan Reid and began the next phase of teaching, this time at the High School level in Montreal, later in Cambridge and finally at St. Mary’s in Kitchener.

She loved to travel, frequently accompanying student groups to Mexico, England and Spain, and visiting with friends and relatives in Italy, Malta and Bermuda, and became an avid Florida snowbird for many years. Late in life she married Nelson Hofer and “wrote” the final chapter of her book on love, laughter and life here in Kitchener.

Jeanette's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 49 Blueridge Avenue, Kitchener, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus, 145 Dearborn Place, Waterloo. Cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
