In his very subtle and understated way, Uncle John was steady, reliable, and down to earth, like a field-stone foundation. He was a shining example of how less is more, and was at the heart of many fond, family memories.
Still vivid, the memory of a backseat, full of wide-eyed cousins, laughing and screaming, as we sped toward the fork in the road at Inverhuron Provincial Park, and Uncle John magically removed the keys from the ignition of the Pontiac, and cried out "Which way?, WHICH WAY?!!!"
In later years, we were schooled in the art of hospitality, as John and Jean hosted countless Octoberfest celebrations, where they made everyone feel at home.
We will miss Uncle John, and are grateful for
learning so much from him.
