Obituary for Joseph Szewczyk

Joseph Szewczyk
Szewczyk, Joseph:
Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the age of 82. Born in Timmins, son of the late George and Anastasia Szewczyk, and brother of the late George. Beloved husband and caring friend of his wife Ruth (nee Heldman) for 60 years. Loving father of Kenneth and Daniel. Proud grandfather of Katelin (Rojan), Jillian and Dylan and great-grandfather of Cameron, Peyton, Anthony and Levi. Survived by his brother John, his wife Fern and their family. Joe was a long time real estate broker with the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board as well as the Owen Sound Board. Both Joe and Ruth spent well over 50 years in Sauble Beach with many happy singsongs around campfires, beach parties, wiener and pig roasts. He and Ruth loved to go "on a beach run" with the car, sit and have a glass of wine and reminisce. Joe was a lifelong developer as well as custom home builder in Waterloo Region and at Sauble. Business was always his goal and he couldn't stop talking and sharing his knowledge of the real estate market and making "that deal". He was very passionate about Mary and Gowan lakes, where he would sit and watch the water, sunsets, fireworks and birds. He would take the "gator" on the trails around the lake and hardwoods. He loved fishing and hunting with his long time buddies.
Joe's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30-1:15 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the chapel on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow.
