Maria Granic (Markusic)
Granic, Maria

Maria passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Innisfree House at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dearly loved wife and best friend of Slavko Granic. Loving and devoted mother of Ante (Christine), Ivan, Anna, and Theresa. Cherished Baba of Allie, Mitchell, Benny, Maxi, Ivan Junior and Tony. Dear sister of Julija (Bruno).
Maria was predeceased by her parents Florian and Treza Markusic, her brother Aloysia and sister Gizela.

Maria was born in Croatia, and came to Canada in 1959, where she met and married the love of her life, Slavko, in Winnipeg. She was a devout Catholic, with a deep faith in our Lord. She sang in the church choir as a young girl in Croatia and continued to do so up until she became ill. Maria had the kindest heart, loved to sing and dance, and watch old classic movies. Her greatest love was being in her kitchen cooking and baking for her family and friends.

Maria will be greatly missed by her brother-in-law Petar (Angela) and family, her Kume Katica and Regina,
and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Croatia.

A special thank you for the wonderful care she received from Dr. Gregory Knight, Dr. Donna Ward, and especially Dr. Erinn Owens, as well as the oncology staff at Grand River Hospital.
