Mary Catherine  Whyte
Mary Catherine passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at Grand River Hospital on May 2nd at the age of 71.

She was loved by many - daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.

She will be missed by her mother Isabel (Bill deceased) as well as her brother Bill (Ada), sister Ann Marie Beacock (Leighton) and brother Greg. She was a loving aunt to Dianna, BJ, Trevor and Devon.

She was a dedicated educator having spent more than 40 years meeting the needs of the children in her care while employed by the Waterloo District Catholic School Board.

Mary Catherine was a tireless supporter of her colleagues and served as President, past President of OECTA as well as Grievance Officer where she performed some of her best work as advocate and friend.

She will also be remembered by dear friends Pinky Moro (Gary deceased), Christine Longpre (Jim Buckwald) and her extended family the Whytes and the Ingoldbys. A special thank you to aunt Sylvia Ingoldsby and cousins Dan and Michael for your tireless support over this last year.

Mary Catherine loved her time at the cottage each summer where she visited; she could be found on the deck with her coffee and a good book and generally enjoying life with family and friends.

A special thank you to Dr. Lumsden and the team at the Balsillie Cancer Centre, for their kind and compassionate care for Mary Catherine over the last year in particular.

Mary Catherine's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467, with Prayers 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's RC Church, 80 University Ave., west (at Hemlock) Waterloo, on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
