passed away peacefully with family at his side at St. Mary's Hospital on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Wittie) for 48 years. Dear father of Pat Stapleton (Tony) and Susan Bihun. Proud "Poppy" of Lisa Stapleton (Ian Collins), James Stapleton (Vanessa) and Crystal Herbert (Tom). Loving great-grandfather of Destiny, Faith and Joshua Herbert and Ethan and Ryan Stapleton. Predeceased by his sisters Helen Brubacher, Glenys Cressman, Esther Steinman and brothers Willis and Dave Cressman. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families. Maynard started his working career at BF Goodrich where he worked for 19 years. He traded in his first car as a down payment on his first farm (Valley Farm). He then purchased a second farm, and when in full production, had 2500 hogs at any given time. Maynard finally retired at the age of 80. In his retirement, Maynard spent time with everyone he loved both family and friends. He and Carol were faithful members of Kitchener East Presbyterian Church.
Maynard's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and from 12:30-1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., (519) 749-8467. Funeral Service in the chapel on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (also available on livestream via the Henry Walser website). Reception to follow. Interment Bloomingdale Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation - Cardiac Care or Kitchener East Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
