Leupold, Gertrude:
Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2011 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital at the age 93.
Beloved wife of the late Dr. Ulrich Leupold (1970). Loving mother of Marcia Turner of Comox, B.C., and Mark Leupold (Juanita) of Regina. Cherished grandmother of Troy, Kimberley, Matthew and Christopher. Great-grandmother of Elijah. Dear sister of Rhoda Myra ( Rev.Wilfred). Predeceased by her brother Fred and his wife Ursula and parents Frank Daber and Clara (nee Schierholtz).
Cremation has taken place.
After graduating from Waterloo College in 1940 she began a career as a primary school teacher in Kitchener until her marriage to Dr. Leupold in 1942. Following his death in 1970 she began a new career as a library cataloguer at Wilfrid Laurier University until her retirement in 1983. Gertrude was an active and faithful charter member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church.
Gertrude’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 29 Westmount Rd., South, Waterloo.
