Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at The Village at University Gates on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 88. Ed was born in Taranto, Italy and came to Canada, May 24, 1958. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice Barney-Maranta. Loving father of Vincent and father-in-law of Shelley. Cherished grampa of Tessa and the late Chandra. Predeceased by his siblings Gino, Claudio, Adelaide, and Cettina. He will be remembered by Frances Pieper. Ed was a long time member of St. Agnes and St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Waterloo.
Edoardo's family will receive relatives and friends from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Parkview Cemetery Chapel, 335 University Ave., Waterloo on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery followed by a reception at Henry Walser Funeral Home.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
We would like to thank the staff at the Village of University Gate in particular Pollock Neighbourhood, residents and their families for the kindness, caring and companion shown to Edoardo during his stay at Village of University Gates.
