Shirley McLean Eulogy

Shirley Dianne McLean Shirley spent her earlier adult years raising her two sons and workings as legal secretary. Most of her legal secretarial career was with Petitt and Schwartz. Shirley always enjoyed traveling. Trips to England to visit her brother Orton and square dancing conventions during her working years. After Shirley retired, Harvey and her took longer and more interesting trips. Shirley also enjoyed going to see live theatre, plays and shows; especially in Port Dover. When Shirley met Cathy my wife. They hit it off immediately. Shirley said Cathy was the daughter she never had. They became very close and never said no to each other when they had an idea about doing something usually, more shows or plays like at their friend Sheila's dinner theatre. That meant Frank and Harvey were just chaperons. Shirley was dedicated to volunteering, spending over 25 years with the Heart and Stroke; as well as with the National Association of Federal Retirees. Well at the nursing home they printed a list of things that described Shirley. One thing that stood out to Frank was her dislike of snakes. Frank remembers one incident that caused Frank and Scott serious grief. This is what happened. The boys were in public school and left home in the morning to catch the school bus. Boys will be boys.... and they didn't close the back doors to the garage and a little snake got in the house but the screen door caught the snakes tail and it was stuck. Well Shirley saw the snake and she was gone. She grabbed only her car keys, and out the front door, she went in her nightie, she went across the front porch to the car in the garage. She flew out of the driveway like a house on fire. She Went to find the boys father and have him come home to get the anaconda size snake out of the house as told by the boys father. Needless to say the boys closed the door after that. Frank is not sure whether Shirley was more upset about the door not being closed or making her drive way around the county side in her nightie. Shirley being the prim and proper lady she was. We will miss you Mom. RIP
