The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of George Bechtel can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

I never met George but wish I would have...I am very thankful for his effort in preserving the Samuel Bechtel burialground which was also the site of the old Mennonite meetinghouse of 1829 where Mennonites AND Tunkers worshipped. There are still many remains/bones left in this special place even though most gravestones were relocated to Wanner Mennonite. Bishop Benjamin Eby mentioned the BECHTEL MEETINGHOUSE in 1824. as Psalms 16:6 "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage." Best Regards; Delmer B.
