HACHBORN, Donald Karl
Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in his 82nd year.
Don is survived by his loving wife Sandra, daughter Amy (Ross, Zara and Zachary Swainson), and his grandson Mateo Swainson, who held a special place in his heart. Don will be missed by his sister-in-law Carol Stephenson, brother-in-law Paul Geiger (Gloria) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don was predeceased by his parents Carl and Elfrieda Hachborn.
Don worked for many years at different companies in Waterloo's insurance industry including Dominion Life, Lutheran Life and Manulife Financial. He was a founding member of the Royal Order of the Dads, and affectionately known as "The Dad" and "Daddy Hach". Don was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and sang for many years in their choir.
Don didn't slow down in his retirement, whether it was chasing leaves around his property, cycling around the countryside or volunteering at the Food Bank, he spent his time keeping active and giving back to others.
Don's family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 and from 2:30 - 3:15 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener 519-749-8467. Memorial Service in the chapel on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Reception to follow.
